We have often seen real-life couples being paired onscreen to obtain that extra zing of chemistry. Then there are real-life couples who do co-star in a film but are not romantically paired opposite each other. The reasons are diverse for different film but there’s no denial to the fact that some directors have gone against the tide to have real-life couples in the same film but different frames. We list down a few such cases…
Sarkar Raj
The recent example is Sarkar Raj. This was the first film post their marriage that had both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in its casting. Add to it there was Amitabh Bachchan to make the outing a complete family affair. But expect director Ram Gopal Varma to do the unexpected. While any other filmmaker would have loved to pair the Abhi-Ash duo, RGV did just the opposite. He also had a reason behind it. Since Sarkar Raj was a follow-up to Sarkar, he had to maintain continuity by showing Abhishek already being married to Tanisha from the first episode.
RGV had Tanisha knocked off by the interval wherein viewers expected that some romance might strike between Abhishek and Aishwarya. He could have used this premise to his advantage but then again he went against the tide. Just after showing a hint of chemistry between the couple, he got Abhishek killed in the very next moment.
