Katrina Kaif’s birthday brought along with it a war between two Khans. It was the intervention of a third Khan that apparently simmered things down. While Salman Khan is known for his temper, Shah Rukh Khan is known for his tactless jokes. According to reports, one such clumsy remark by SRK sparked off Sallu’s temper. Though reports suggest all is fine courtesy Aamir Khan’s timely intervention, what’s unknown is the reason that triggered the fight.
While some sources suggest it was King Khan’s comment on Katrina and Aishwarya that irked Salman, others are of the opinion it’s the TRPs that got the two stars at loggerheads. According to the grapevine, Shah Rukh claimed his show Kya Aap Paachvi Pass Se Tez Hai? was doing better compared to Sallu’s Dus Ka Dum.
Siddharth Basu, quiz master and producer, feels that both, SRK and Salman, have strong points of their own. He says, “For any good host, charisma is important. People know of SRK’s charisma and charm. As for Salman, there is style, warmth, showmanship and a connect with the common man.”
The TRP war is not the first of its kind. Prior to this, Amitabh Bachchan and SRK also indulged in mud-slinging sessions discussing the ratings of their shows. The Big B claimed that during his term as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati?, ratings were better. According to Siddharth, “While both, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are good presenters, reports that KBC 3 was not successful are false.”
Now, the buzz that Salman’s show is doing well compared to SRK’s is also worth contemplating. Hearsay is that owing to the lukewarm response to KAPPSTH?, King Khan may back out of the show after its fiftieth episode is shot. Now, if all of this is just another publicity gimmick or if the reel life heroes are actually warring in real life over TRPs, only time will tell. One thing is clear though — showbiz is not as glitzy and glamorous as what’s on the silver screen.
