2 billion trees planted in 18 months

Mongabay: A campaign to plant one billion trees has planted more than 2 billion trees in just 18 months and now aims for seven billion, according to the UN Environment Programme, one of the backers of the initiative. The effort, launched in 2006, is an effort to address a number of environmental challenges including global warming, biodiversity loss, desertification, erosion, and freshwater availability.
