According to reports, a record 25 million pounds were staked on the game, and Ronaldo attracted more bets than any other player in Champions League history.
Ireland’s largest bookmaker Paddy Power has revealed that it paid out 1.2million pounds on Ronaldo after pledging to refund other losing bets on the match if he scored during normal time.
"It wasn't our best night and Ronaldo's to blame," the Mirror quoted a spokesman as saying.
Bets were made on whether Ronaldo would score a goal during the match as well as on whether he would hit the first or last goal.
Another Britain-based gambling company Ladbrokes said: "We were hit hard." (ANI)
