What are .rm, .ra, .ram files?
They are Real Media files. These files can be played by Real Player ( http://www.real.com ). But you can always convert real media files to .mp3 format, by using the StreamBox and then follow the below instructions:
1. Unzip the StreamBox files.
2. Run the file Streambox, and follow the step-by-step instructions.
3. Run the file PatchFX.exe. This will make the software full version.
4. Thats it, run Ripper.exe to start converting files, from the unzipped directory.
How to download Real Player for FREE?
Follow the below steps:
1. Visit http://www.real.com
2. Scroll all the way down on their website and on the right side you will see a link saying "Real Player FREE, Free Download" Click it.
3. In the middle of the screen in grey background click on "Previous Version" link
4. Now in the middle of the screen in grey background there's a link saying "RealPlayer 8 Basic - is our free player" click it, and thats it.
While running PatchFX, I'm getting error 'PatchFX cannot be applied' or similar?
This is ok, don't worry abt it. Your StreamBox should still work fine, and fully functional.
What is MP3?
MPEG layer 3 (.mp3) is an audio format that produces highly compressed files without sacrificing audio quality. The audio quality is equal to a that of a CD yet it takes up only around 10% of a wave (.wav) file.
Are MP3s legal?
The answer to this question is both yes and no. Its perfectly legal if you encode MP3s from you own CDs and keep them to yourself. But it's illegal to encode MP3s and trade them with others unless you have the permission of the copyright holder of the music. To put it another way, MP3 is simply a file format that can be used either legally or illegally.
How to play MP3 files?
To play MP3 files on your computer you need to download a player and install it. One of the most popular mp3 players for windows is winamp (it's free!). For macintosh try macamp. If you have another type of computer or just want a complete list of players, check out our players section.
It always download in Temporary Folder or plays in Real Player!
Just hold the SHIFT key, and then press the left mouse button OR right click on the link and select "Save As" option.
How to make MP3 files?
There are many ways of creating mp3 files, but the easy and best is using MusicMatch which writes straight from CD into MP3
I click on a link to download MP3 file but instead see strange characters on the screen!

I downloaded a MP3 file but when i listen to it - instead of music, i hear strange noises!
All content (data) sent from a web server has a content-type associated with it. If the correct content-type is not configured for the file you're trying to download (eg: mp3 file), it will be incorrectly associated with text/plain and Netscape will treat it as an ASCII text file. However, you do not need to worry... there are many programs which can fix this problem. Download UnCook, it should fix the problem.
